His parents were Henry and Florence (Hecksel) Bos. Jim grew up in Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1965. For the past 26 years he has called Spring Lake home. Jim married the love of his life, Linda (Carlson) Bos on August 2, 1969, after they both graduated from Western Michigan University, where Jim earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather named by his grandchildren, “Boppa.” Jim loved and treasured his wife and his family beyond measure. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder. He was also a leader and member of Bible Study Fellowship. Jim was a quiet, humble, selfless man of integrity. He lived each day for his family, connected deeply heart-to-heart. He and Linda found their favorite place to be was together. Jim enjoyed photography, sailing, golfing, gardening, lawn work, and reading historical biographies and mysteries. Jim also enjoyed his Spring Lake Rotary membership and serving on the Board of Evergreen Village in Spring Lake. He loved Northern Michigan and his favorite trip he and Linda took together was to Europe. Jim taught one year for the Fruitport School system before taking a position with the State of Michigan’s Department of Social Services as a Licensed Social Worker. He was the supervisor of Case Workers in the Muskegon office and later served as the Business Manager at the Kent County Office.
