Mr. James P. Breen's Obituary
Mr. James P. Breen, 83, passed away early Saturday morning, May 29, 2021, at his home in Twin Lake. He was born November 14, 1937, to Edward and Mary (Herlein) Breen in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. He worked at Consumers Power Cobb Plant for 25 years before retiring and had previously worked for many years as a barber on Jackson Hill with his dad. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He loved going to horse races with his best friend Bill and was able to go to the Kentucky Derby four times with his granddaughter Kelsey. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman with his son Randy and his grandson Zach. He enjoyed his morning ritual of having breakfast at the Overboard Inn with his friends and the staff there. Jim married Darleen Wilde on June 21, 1958, and she survives him along with three children: Randy (Linda) Breen, Tim Breen, Kelly (Scott) Shaffer; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. Breen may be made to Hospice of N. Ottawa. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
