James David Collins' Obituary
Mr. James David Collins, age 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Muskegon on November 17, 1923 to James S. and Ruth M. (Geary) Collins. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in WWII as a Seabee. He had been employed as a local wood pattern maker for 40 years before retiring in 1986. Jim was an active member at Olivet Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed fellowship with the 2nd Miler Group. He cherished his family and loved animals. He enjoyed the outdoors and stayed active walking, biking and swimming. Jim took pride in his home and enjoyed working in the garden and workshop, as well as being an avid reader. On June 12, 1954, Jim married the former Geraldine “Gerry” Hansen in Muskegon and she survives him along with their children, Elizabeth Line and Stephen (Kathy) Collins; three grandsons, Marc Line, James (Rachel) Line and Joey Sterritt; great-grandchildren, Collin and twins, Nadia and Olivia; and one brother, Thomas (Marcia) Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Collins and two sisters, Shirley Dorkowski and Ruth Kramer. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS may be made to Muskegon Rescue Mission, Olivet Evangelical Free Church or Mercy VNS Hospice. Arrangements by the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100.
