James M. Cook Jr's Obituary
Mr. James M Cook Jr, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Muskegon. He was born on December 16, 1945 to James and Bernice (Klement) Cook in Manistee, MI. Jim proudly served his country while in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1968 as a Sergeant. On August 21, 1987, Jim married the former Patrice Downy in Muskegon. They spent 35 wonderful years together before Pat passed away on October 2, 2022. Jim and Pat shared many great adventures together. They went on several cruises together and traveled all over the United States, especially enjoying their time spent in Las Vegas. Jim was a skilled wood worker and built his house on Mona Lake, where he enjoyed sitting on his patio, watching the water over the years, usually with his pugs, Watson, Winston, and Mr. Wilson. Jim will be remembered by his siblings, Thomas (Marsha) Cook, David (Patti) Cook, and Betty (David) Bickford; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Cook; brother-in-law, Joe Christophersen; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Pat, Jim was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Cook; brother, Deacon Bill Cook; sister, Mary Christophersen; and parents. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held 11:00AM, Monday, May 15 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Burial to take place at Norton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory may be directed to Noah Project.
