James A. Cooper's Obituary
James A. Cooper, age 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home following a long illness. He was born August 21, 1948 in Muskegon, Michigan to Albert and Harriet (Brondsema) Cooper and was a life long resident of the Muskegon area. Jim graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School in 1966 and attended Muskegon Community College. Jim then served in the US Army for two years and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. Jim worked at Viking Foods in Muskegon for 23 years and later at the Muskegon County Road Commission where he retired in 2005. Jim was a member of Dalton Baptist Church for many years where he served as a trustee and Awana leader and later attended Olivet Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed working on cars, camping and being with his family and most of all his grandchildren. On August 3, 1973 he married the former Carol D. Frederick and she survives him along with 2 children, Lynn (Scott) Fongers of Norton Shores, Kevin (Wendy Woodring and daughter Jordan) Cooper of Twin Lake, MI.; 2 grandchildren, Kayleigh and Aaron Fongers; his mother, Harriet Cooper of Muskegon; his mother-in-law, Marian Frederick; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Albert Cooper; sister, Mary L. Bevins; and father-in-law, Stanley Frederick. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2015 at The Lee Chapel (6291 S. Harvey St.) with Pastor Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to Mercy VNS and Hospice would be appreciated.
