James J. DeWeerdt's Obituary
Mr. James J. DeWeerdt, age 74, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He was born September 7, 1938 in Nunica to John and Bertha (Bryant) DeWeerdt, and resided in the area most of his life. James worked as a marine mechanic at Grand Isle Marina, and Torenson Marine. He loved to fish, play cards, and most importantly spend time with his family. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Debra (Kevin) DeForest of Fruitport, Diana (John) Enders of Muskegon, Dennis DeWeerdt of Fruitport, Danette (Mike) Giddings of Muskegon and Douglas (April) DeWeerdt of Lowell; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and special friend, Lea Schaub. James was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne on April 28, 1992. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 12 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Ben Veigh officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 11-12 PM.
