James R. Dice's Obituary
Mr. James R. Dice, age 84, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, October 1, 2018. He was born June 4, 1934 in Grand Rapids to Henry and Ethel (Cullen) Dice. On August 26, 1955 he married Mary J. Holwerda in Grand Rapids.
James was a founding member of Covenant Life Church where he served as an elder and was a member of the Friday Men’s Group among other actives at church. James retired from Old Kent Bank where he worked for 28 years. He was a sports fan, he enjoyed football, the Detroit Tigers and watching the World Cup. Family was very important to him and he will be very missed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary; five children: Deb (Randy) Smith of Grand Rapids, David Dice of Ada, Kathy (Steve) Zeboor of Rockford, John (Linda) Dice of Allendale, and Amy (Jim) Bursma of Massachusetts; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Carol (Walt) Sterkenburg, Lois Holwerda, and Lori Holwerda. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Dice.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 5, 2018 at Covenant Life Church (101 Columbus Ave. Grand Haven) with Pastor Bob DeVries officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday, October 4, 2018 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave.) and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of James may be given to the Bunk Bed Ministry – Covenant Life Church, or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
