COL. James "Dipper" H. Dallman's Obituary
DALLMAN – COL. JAMES H. “DIPPER” DALLMAN (RET), age 91, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home in Grand Rapids. “Dipper” was a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, 1945; and retired from the U.S. Army in 1968 after a 23 year infantry officer career. He then transitioned to civilian life as a stock broker for Merrill Lynch for 30 years. In his retirement, he was an active volunteer at two area hospitals, a local hospice, and a local literacy program. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Arnold Dallman; 6 children (Elizabeth Welsh Dallman, James Howard Dallman Jr. (deceased), Mary Arnold Dallman Boyer and her husband Robert, Katherine Arnold Dallman Grubb and her husband David, Janet Cleiland Dallman “Bambi”, Emily Josephine Dallman and her husband Harold Thidemann, and William Arnold Dallman and his wife Lucy); 16 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated Tuesday, 13 May 2014, 11 AM, at St. Robert of Newminster Parish in Ada, Michigan with The Rev. Msgr. Louis Stasker presiding, 6477 Ada Drive SE, Ada, MI 49301.In lieu of flowers, you are asked to consider a donation to the West Point Association of Graduates,www.westpointaog.org.
