James R. Dodsworth's Obituary
James Roger Dodsworth was born on February 10, 1980, to Carolyn and Roger. He proudly lived in the Detroit area the majority of his life, only recently moving to Muskegon where he currently resided with his soulmate Rachael who he loved deeply, and their five pets. James was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Roger, sister Katherine and an unborn child. He is survived by Rachael, his beloved daughter Jamia, his three stepchildren who he loved as his own, his mother Carolyn and his brothers Patrick, David and Joseph, with whom he shared a tight bond.
James loved his family and friends fiercely and never failed to let them know that. He was a loving father and great uncle to his nieces and nephews.
James liked to work with his hands, and fixing up houses was his passion both in his career and in all his own personal projects. If he wasn't working, he was outside playing with the dogs, working in the yard, kayaking, riding his bike or grilling in his back yard. In the winter he loved the snow and enjoyed riding his snow mobile, a passion he shared with his brothers. He loved travelling and loved going to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. James was always there for others and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He touched many lives through his work and church, and he prioritized maintaining his friendships even after moving to Muskegon.
James passed away surrounded by his family on February 18, 2025. Following his wishes, he will live on in the many lives saved by the gift of his life through organ donation. James will be cremated, and a memorial service will take place at a later date in the Detroit area. His final resting place will be in the U.P. at his family's cabin where he will be at peace.
“Comforting God, in times of grief and loss, we long for your peace that surpasses sorrow. Wrap your arms around us and those who mourn, bringing solace to our hearts. May your peace reign during pain, reminding us of the hope we have in you. Grant us the strength to endure, knowing you are our refuge and strength. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.”
