James W. "Jim" Fox's Obituary
James W. “Jim” Fox, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Jim was born June 13, 1941, in Lansing, MI, to Clarence and Hilda (Hurshburger) Fox. He attended Alma High School and graduated from Albion College in 1964. He was also a licensed funeral director, graduating from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. On October 4, 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Candace Luczyk. Jim was employed at GTE for over 30 years and served his country in the Michigan Army National Guard.
Jim enjoyed being a Little League coach and helping with middle and high school wrestling and soccer programs. He was also a loyal Mona Shores High School band parent. Jim was very active in the Vikings Linne Lodge #57. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fly fishing, was a hunting enthusiast, and rode a Harley motorcycle for years. He also had a passion for jazz and Big Band music and was deeply knowledgeable on many jazz artists. He was a Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and Lions Fan. His hobby, since youth, was hopping trains as a kid, talking about trains, taking steam train trips as well as lots of other types of travel.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jim will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife, Candace; sons, David (Megan) Fox and Douglas (Natasha Boelkins) Fox; grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Emma Fox, Hayden Fox, Henrik Fox, Asher Fox, Sebastian Fox, Brooklyn Boelkins, Vayda Boelkins and Henrik Boelkins; and sisters-in-law, Charrise Novoselich and Cheryl Parmeter. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, David Warren Fox.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Lake Harbor United Methodist Church (4861 Henry St., Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating and VISITATION 1 hour prior to the service. In memory of Jim, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to the Ruthann Matthew’s Vikings Scholarship Fund.
