James R. "Eagle-One" French's Obituary
James R. “Eagle-One” French, age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was born July 15, 1938 in Muskegon to Robert and Dorothy (Richardson) French. Jim was a graduate of Muskegon High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. For a few years he worked as a police officer for the City of Muskegon and Lansing Police Departments prior to retiring from the United States Post Office following 17 years of dedicated service. Following retirement and to keep himself active, he worked for Michigan’s Adventure as security and as a bagger for the Meijer in North Muskegon. Jim was a member for over 30 years of the Jibson Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served as Chairman of the Board. He was a CB radio enthusiast with the handle “Eagle-One.” Jim also enjoyed traveling with family. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Kevin (Debbie) French of Valdosta, Georgia, Kelly (Debbie Ropp) French of North Muskegon, Quiana Carter of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren: Brenda, Jeff, Kaitlyn, Emily, and Ashleigh French, Q’nique Carter; brother, Larry (Judy) French of Muskegon; and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra French; parents; and 2 brothers: Dennis and William French. SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Jibson Immanuel Baptist Church (7960 Evanston Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
