James Curtis Hammitt's Obituary
James C. Hammitt, age 80, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022. He was born on August 31, 1941, to Vern and Leeta (Donn) Hammitt in Harrison County, Iowa. James proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. During his worklife he spent many years buying and selling farming equipment with Quality Farm and Fleet and King Kutter, Inc. James had a passion for golf and was a member of the Lincoln Golf Club. James is survived by his wife, Marlyce Hammitt; children, Jim (Tara) Hammitt, Jeana Hammitt and Mikey Unger, Joana (Kevin) Baldermann; grandchildren, Jordan Hammitt, Tanner Hammitt Tesdahl, Jase Baldermann, Cailyn Baldermann; siblings, Sandra Ruskanen, Bob Hammitt, Gail Hammitt, Merne Hammitt, Wayne Hammitt, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donn Hammitt, Phil Hammitt; siblings-in-law, Patty Hammitt, and Andy Ruskanen. A VISITATION with James’ family will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022, from both 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of the Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444. A FUNERAL SERVICE for James will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at (1568 W. Giles Rd.) Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in East Dalton Oak Hill Cemetery. For a more lasting memory, donations in James’ name can be made to either the American Cancer Society or Laketon Bethel Reformed Church.
