James Richard Hammond's Obituary
Mr. James Richard “Dick” Hammond, age 85, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in Laketon Township. He was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on October 3, 1938 to Clifford and Carolyn (Rogers) Hammond. Dick was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He was employed by Clarke Industries for over 35 years and retired as the Director of the Hardwood Floor Division prior to his retirement in 2001. Dick enjoyed ice fishing with his buddies, golfing in the Clarke golf league at Chase Hammond Golf Course, gardening, and working in his yard. On July 11, 1956, Dick married the former Jean Webster and she survives him along with their son, Keith (Kelly) Hammond; granddaughter, Alexandria (Chad) Moore; great-grandson, William Vernon Moore; and brother, Clifford (Ava) Hammond. He was preceded in death by his son, James Hammond Jr. and his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
