James S. Jazdzyk's Obituary
Mr. James S. Jazdzyk, age 74, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born in Champaign, Illinois on July 27, 1942 to Stephen and Dagne (Wallerstrom) Jazdzyk. Jim graduated from Muskegon High School in 1960 and from Michigan Tech in 1966. He was employed as a metallurgical engineer at Sealed Power (Dana) before his retirement in 2003. Jim was a member of Unity Reformed Church and the American Legion. For years, he was an avid golfer, then a collector of Michigan beach stones, and especially enjoyed his finds of Petoskey stones. Jim was a self-taught painter, avid reader, and enjoyed doing puzzles. He also enjoyed Monday morning prayer breakfast with his friends at the Cherokee Restaurant. He was active in Kids Hope for several years and became a grandfather figure and close friend to Mark Paparella. In 1997, Jim married the former Myona “Mye” (Karr) DeVries and she survives him along with his children, Jeff (Carolyn) Jazdzyk, Jamie Jazdzyk and John (Colleen) Jazdzyk; step-children, Penny (Scott) Hughes, Lee (Denise) DeVries, and Kimberly (John) Kamp; 13 grandchildren, Janee Jazdzyk, Makayla and Evin Jazdzyk, Derek (Traci) DeMarr, Tiffany (Andrew) McClain, Eric DeVries, Brittney DeVries, Kyle (Cassandra) Hughes, Connor (fiancé, Caitlyn) Hughes, Mitchell McEwen, Daniel (Nicole) Kamp, Mia Kamp and David Kamp; 11 great-grandchildren, Lilibeth, Jackson, Cire, Braelynn, Gabriel, Jordan, Andi, Lauren, Brayden, Kailey and Chase; siblings, John (Sue) Jazdzyk, Janet Jazdzyk, Jean (Gary) Baker and several nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Road, Muskegon 49441) with Rev. Walter Jones officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS may be made to Noah Project or Teen Challenge.
