James "Jim" Carney's Obituary
James "Jim" Carney passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021, in Dickson, Tennessee. He was born on May 26, 1949, in Muskegon, Michigan to parents Darrell Carney Sr. and Lucille (Chingman) Carney. Jim is a member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. He retired in August 1999 from the United States Navy, and a veteran of Desert Storm and the Vietnam War. He enjoyed drumming and playing his ukulele. He drummed in several pow-wows in Michigan and while playing his ukulele was able to play in the Old Timers parade in Dickson, Tennessee. Jim is survived by his daughter Sarah Carney; sisters, Patricia "Pat" Williams, Darlene "Dar" Boley, Dora Carney; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; father, Darrell Carney Sr.; mother, Lucille (Chingman) Carney; brothers, John Carney, Darrell Carney, Alfred Carney; sisters, Eva Giles, Mary Jo Miller, and Pauline Korecki. Celebration of life services for Jim will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Lee Chapel 6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231)798-1100.
