Mr. James R. Madendorp's Obituary
Mr. James R. Madendorp, Jr., devoted husband and loving father, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, December 28, 2020, at his home. Jim was born May 26, 1937 to James R. and Christine (Vanderlaan) Madendorp, Sr., in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. Jim was a lifelong member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and member of the choir. He was a Product Engineer for Howmet for 27 years before retiring in 1996. Before working at Howmet, he also worked at Teledyne Continental Motors and Kaydon. As part of his job, he belonged to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He enjoyed sports by participating in bowling, playing golf on the church golf league for many years and watching Michigan State University sports. After retiring, he enjoyed driving school bus for Muskegon Christian School as Bussing Supervisor and driving the school sports teams to away games. He also drove busses for Pioneer Resources and Reeths Puffer Schools. On April 11, 1958 he married the love of his life, Patricia J. Kuhn and she survives him along with 2 children: Randy (Mary) Madendorp and Debbie (Don) Green; 6 grandchildren: Kristin (Zack) Grusell, Greg Madendorp, Janet Madendorp, Kylienne Green, Erik Green, Karrissa Green; sister-in-law, Janet M. Kuhn and brother-in-law, Ted R. Kuhn and 3 nieces (Lisa, Kristie, Kimberly) and 5 nephews (David, Steve, Tom, Kurt, Grant). He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ernest Madendorp, sister Phyllis Brouwer and granddaughter Jacqueline Madendorp. Due to current restrictions, a private family service will be held officiated by Pastor Ben Oliveria. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. The Madendorp family would like to thank Caregivers Rashena Pollard and Shawn Lyons (of 4+ years) and also, Harbor Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Jim. Contributions in memory of Mr. Madendorp may be made to Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School/Middle School.
