James L. Martin D.D.S.'s Obituary
James Lee Martin, D.D.S., age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was born on September 20, 1939, to George, Jr. and Ilo (Nickless) Martin in Midland, MI. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. While still part of the Air Force ROTC, Jim went on to get his degree in dentistry from the University of Michigan. For over 35 years, Jim owned and operated James Lee Martin Dentistry until his retirement in June of 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His passion for the outdoors led him to take many trips to his favorite place, Ennis, Montana, where he enjoyed his hobbies. Jim enjoyed sports and could often be found watching the Big Ten teams playing. He was also a talented woodworker and carpenter. Jim was a very supportive and involved grandfather, sharing his hobbies and encouraging his grandchildren’s future aspirations. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Martin; children, Kimberly Ploehn, M.D., Phillip (Angel) Martin; grandchildren, Alissa Martin, Alex Ploehn, Jessica Martin; sister, Georgia Vogel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clessen Martin. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Jim will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm at The Lee Chapel of the Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S.
