Mr. James Fred Muston's Obituary
Mr. James Fred Muston, age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in Muskegon. He was born in Wolf Lake on April 11, 1932 to Loel and Leta (Budd) Muston, graduated from Muskegon High School in 1950 and was a life resident of the area. Jim had worked for the Muskegon Chronicle for 35 years before retiring in 1997. He was the Cedar Creek Supervisor for 36 years and Building Inspector for 8 years. Jim was President of the Muskegon Township Association and very active in many other government boards. He enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Frauenthal Theater as well as numerous other community events. Jim was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Brunswick, where he sang in the choir and was a cantor. He enjoyed hunting, roller skating, reading, dancing and puzzles. On August 8, 1953, Jim married the former Joyce Ann Schmitt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon and she survives him along with two children, Jeffrey (Terri) Muston and Jacqueline Parish; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Muston and Kenneth (Connie) Muston; three brother-in-laws, Eugene (Eleanor) Schmitt, Jerome (Susan) Schmitt and John TerBorg; four sister-in-laws, Madaline Schmitt, Margaret Houseman, Martha Beauleaux and Cecilia Kerr; his God-daughter, Debra Strandberg and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Damien Parish; two sisters, Geraldine McAuley and Phyllis TerBorg; two brother-in-laws, Charles Schmitt and Jacob Schmitt and one sister-in-law, Katherine Scofield. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Brunswick with Rev. Fr. Donn Tufts presiding. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with the ROSARY prayed at 6:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to St. Michael Church of Brunswick or to Mercy VNS Hospice.
