Mr. James "Jim" Nielsen's Obituary
Mr. James E. “Jim” Nielsen, 74, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 8, in Muskegon. Jim was born May 25, 1942 to Bernard N. and Genevieve (Woirel) Nielsen in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. He was a member of Hope Reformed Church, had worked at Lift Tech/Dresser Industries for over 40 years, was the Muskegon Township Clerk for several years, and was a volunteer for the Muskegon area American Red Cross. Jim was very involved with the Orchard View Schools as a volunteer and coach, and had been in the Detroit Tiger baseball organization years ago. On May 25, 1963, he married Mary K. “Kathy” Bouwsma, and she survives him along with 2 children, Jim (Brenda) Nielsen, Julie (Keith) Harrell; 5 grandchildren, Kyle (Alissa) Nielsen, Kiefer (Jessica) Nielsen, Kendalyn Nielsen, Kody Harrell and Kaylee Harrell; 6 great-grandchildren, Kylan, Raelyn, Kamryn, Flynn, Scottlynn and Quintyn; 2 brothers, Bernard R. (Jane) Nielsen, Melvin (Jeanne) Nielsen; 1 sister, Darlene Peklar; brother-in-law, Edward (Lori) Bouwsma; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Visitation and a time to gather with the family will be Sunday, March 12, from 2-4 PM at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210.
