James S. Pomeroy's Obituary
James Stanley Pomeroy, age 88, passed away in Norton Shores, MI, on Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born on April 2, 1935, to Stanley and Verne (Schwemer) Pomeroy in Muskegon, MI. He graduated from Muskegon High School and worked for 46 years at Sealed Power. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea shortly after the Korean War. In May of 1958 he married the former Janice Wierda, and the two of them spent nearly 65 years together until she preceded him in death in 2023. James loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or gardening. In his younger years he would spend many summers camping with his family at Muskegon State Park. James greatly enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons: Jeffrey Pomeroy, Joel (Peggy) Pomeroy, and Jack (Angela) Pomeroy; three grandchildren: Katrina (Shawn) Cooper, Nicole VanDyke, and Jordan Dion; ten great-grandchildren: Jordan (Lyndsay) Cooper, Vincent (Aryon) Rennells, Tyler Rennells (Tiara Johnson), Sarah Cooper, Jamie (James) Palmiere, Aidan VanDyke, Oliver Munn, Kendall Munn, Talon Cooper, and Johanna Cunningham; nine great-great-grandchildren: Huxley Cooper, Ajax Rennells, Lucille Rennells, Wilder Rennells, Alannah Novell, Fearynn Rennells, Bentley Ware, Paisley Palmiere, and Rebel Palmiere; brother in-law, Richard (Edith) Wierda; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Verne Pomeroy; wife, Janice Pomeroy; and brother, William (Jean) Pomeroy. Per his wishes, no public services are being held.
