James E. Ryan Sr.'s Obituary
James Edward Ryan Sr., age 82, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020. He was born March 30, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Jerry and Grace (Wilhelm) Ryan. Jim graduated from Ravenna High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. During the 60’s and 70’s he owned and operated Ryan’s Speed Shop. He also worked many years for L3 as a machinist prior to retiring in 2004. Jim owned many race cars over the years and spent many weekend nights at the local racetracks. He was also a member of the Fruitport Eagles. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Chandonet in 1984 and his second wife, Rosemary Archambeau-Ketchum in 2016. SURVIVORS include his children: James E. (Kelly) Ryan II, Jill (Lori Lind) Ryan, Jodi (Tom) Olds; 4 step-children: Ray Ketchum, Tom (Susan) Ketchum, James Ketchum, and Lori Ketchum; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Carol) Ryan; and a sister, Lolli (Jerry) Popps-Kamerschen. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Jerry and Charles Ryan; and a step-brother, Cliff Popps. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE with full military honors for Jim will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Mona View Cemetery, Muskegon, Heights, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to North Ottawa Hospice.
