Mr. James Harding Seaney's Obituary
Mr. James Harding Seaney, age 89 passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2019 surrounded by family who loved him. Jim was born October 7, 1929 in Muskegon, MI to John and Etta (Ross) Seaney. He attended Whitehall High School and later he bravely served his country as a member of the Infantry Division in the U.S. Army on the front lines of the Korean War. Jim was a member of the Bricklayers and Masons Union, Local No. 5 and worked as a tile setter and flooring installer until he retired at age 62. He was a lifetime member of the VFW # 8846, Don Rea Post. Jim was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed camping, dune buggies and snowmobiling. He was a woodworker as well and his children and grandchildren will treasure forever the things he crafted for them. He loved spending time with his wife, three daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends at his campground.
Jim married the former Rita Wilson on February 28, 1953. In addition to Rita, his wife of 66 years Jim is survived by his daughters, Sally (Brian) Reagan, Susan (Ted Sr.) Andree and Shelly (Dennis) Schuitema, 8 grandchildren, Joseph Reagan, Casey Reagan, James Lowder, Julie Bergquist (Jeff), William Lowder (Amanda), Alison Schuitema Burns (Jamie), Caroline Schuitema-Wack (Thomas), Emily Schuitema and several great grandchildren, brothers Donald Seaney, Ronald Seaney (Violet), and Paul Seaney (Sheila), many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Seaney, sisters Shirley Sims and Laura Grimard.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. at the VFW Don Rea Post #8846, 1061 Witham Road, North Muskegon, MI, with Full Military Rites afforded and the auspices of VFW Don Rea Post #8846 beginning at 1:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
