James E. Sherrod's Obituary
James, age 74, departed this life on November 8, 2020 at 6:25pm at Mercy Health in Muskegon, MI. James was born on November 29, 1946 in Columbus, Mississippi to the union of Nola and George Sherrod. James attended school in Columbus where he gave his life to Christ at a young age in his early twenties. James later came to Muskegon and established employment at Campbell Wyant and Cannon (CWC) for several years and later moved to Muskegon where he met and started a family. James married the love of his life, Charlotte Harrison Sherrod and settled down with her and their three children, Shantina Harrison, Garry Buchanan and Charlisha Buchanan. In his later years, James spent all of his time with his grand and great-grandchildren and was proudly called PAW PAW by many. James loved listening to the world network gospel programs, watching the In the Heat of the Night, WWE, Blue Bloods, Walker Texas Ranger, and Law and Order SVU. He is known for his great cooking, funny sayings and talks with his family. He was our Paw Paw and he will be greatly missed! James leaves to cherish his memories: his beautiful wife, Charlotte Sherrod; four daughters, Sawanda (Kay), Katrease (Trece), Shantina and Charlisha; and four sons, James Earl Sherrod Jr. (Puggy), Jerry Sherrod, Garry Buchanan, Jamal Lang; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandson, Damarcus Stinson II. In additional to his children and great-grandchildren, James is survived by sisters, Anne Jackson, Mattie B. Sherrod, Mary Harris, Willie Mae Bush and Jenell Smith; brothers, Eddie Sherrod and Willie (Charlie) Sherrod. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nola and George Sherrod and brothers, Oscar and Georgie Sherrod. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E.
