James E. “Jimmy” Shlaffer, age 62, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was born in Muskegon, MI., on July 2, 1961, to James and Shirley (Jett) Shlaffer. Jim had been most recently employed as an automotive service advisor at Preferred Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Muskegon for 5 years; before that, Betten Baker Chevrolet for 8 years and had recently retired. Jim attended Muskegon Catholic Central High School where he played multiple sports (football and baseball), especially excelling at baseball. His baseball career continued for four more years while attending Western Michigan University. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, reading, music, and spending time with family. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Shirley Shlaffer of Muskegon, his sister, Kimberly (Scott) Deal of Plainwell; his brothers: Scott (Lisa) Shlaffer of Muskegon; and Timothy (Jennifer) Shlaffer of Virginia; Nieces and nephews: Scott, Sara, Katie, Olivia, Abby, Hailey, Jackson and Alex; Great-nieces and nephews: Ava, Emmy, Arlo and Townsend and many close cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father James J. Shlaffer. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at a later date.
