James L. Sottovia's Obituary
Mr. James L. Sottovia, age 70, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Detroit. James was born on August 15, 1946 in Muskegon to James and Dorothy (Aldrich) Sottovia. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1964 and served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Jim married the former Maryellen Larson on February 1, 1969 in Muskegon and worked in sales at Eagle Ottawa Leather Co. He was a member at Calvin Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed fly fishing, making fly rods and tying flies, photography, woodworking, playing Scrabble, puzzles and the Detroit Tigers but foremost he enjoyed his family and was devoted to his faith. SURVIVORS include his loving wife, Maryellen, of 48 years; children, Drew (Kym) Sottovia, Randy (Jennie) Sottovia and Kathleen (Chris) Alsobrooks; grandchildren, Connor, Camden and Keegan; brothers, Norman Sottovia, Steven (Julie) Sottovia; sisters, Angela (Jerry) Walters and Rose Ake. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231)798-1100.
