James H. "Jim" Swiftney's Obituary
James H. “Jim” Swiftney, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 22, 1941, to Harold and Pauline (VanNoordwyk) Swiftney in Muskegon, MI which he has always called home.
Jim graduated from Muskegon Heights High School receiving his diploma in 1961. He was a dedicated employee of numerous foundries throughout the years retiring from Century Foundry in 2009. On January 12, 1963, he married the love of his life, the former Sheryllee Bishop in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 40 years full of love, laughter, and endless Sunday drives. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2003. Jim was known for his adventurous spirit and his knack for pressing his luck, whether it was at the casino, playing Keno, or scratching off a lottery ticket. He had a natural zest for life and was always up for a good challenge, but it was his love for the simple pleasures that truly defined him. Whether it was enjoying a cold beer with his buddies at the bar, casting a line at his favorite fishing spot, or cruising around in his Mustang on a Sunday afternoon. A gifted cook and baker, Jim had the rare ability to whip up anything from a hearty meal to the sweetest treats. His kitchen was his domain, and anyone lucky enough to be around when he was cooking could count on a delicious surprise.
Above all, Jim will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and kind heart. He was an amazing father, a doting Papa, a wonderful brother, and a dear friend to so many. His laughter was contagious, his generosity endless, and his caring nature evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Khristina (Jenifer Jagim) Hepworth and Jamie (Jeffrey) Foster; two grandchildren, Zachary (Alease Rude) Foster and Emily (Joel) Friday; sister, Noreen (Todd) Curtis; sister-in-law, Diane Swiftney; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Sheryllee Swiftney; sister, Louise (Bernard) Gillish; brother, Harold Swiftney; and step-grandson, Kyle Foster.
