James C. Tovey's Obituary
James Carl Tovey, age 70, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born October 9, 1951 in Muskegon to Eugene and Annamae Tovey. Jim worked for J & M Machine for many years as a machinist prior to his retirement in 1994. On December 1, 1973, he married the former Karen J. Hutchison in Muskegon. He was an active member of First Wesleyan Church and volunteered at Mercy Hospital driving the lot transportation cart for 27 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing and bowling. Jim was also a huge U of M fan and enjoyed going to the football games. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his granddaughters and the rides he gave them on his riding lawnmower. SURVIVORS include his wife of 48 years, Karen; 2 children: Mark (Janelle) Tovey and Kendra Tovey; grandchildren: Katelyn and Skylar; sister-in-law, Toni Tovey and her children: Chanda and Shane Tovey; brothers-in-law: Kevin (Teresa) Hutchison, James (Brenda) Hutchison, Brian (Julie) Hutchison, Gary (Lori) Hutchison and their families; many close friends; and his faithful furry companions, Max and Goofy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Tovey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Rene Hutchison; and brother-in-law, Chris Hutchison. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Jim will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at First Wesleyan Church (1040 E. Forest Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Jeremy Lenertz officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the First Wesleyan Church Building Fund or the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
