James Van Ness' Obituary
Mr. James Van Ness, age 70, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 23, 1954, in Lansing to Seward and Maureen (Schuett) Van Ness. In 1979, he married Cynthia Bingham and they welcomed daughter Kathryn in 1986.
James was known to his friends as Woody and to his business connections as Jim. He was an avid fisherman, a talented skeet and trap shooter, a brown belt in judo, a SCUBA diver, a gentleman farmer, a lover of German Shepards, a dedicated friend, and supporter of his wife and daughter in their love of horses. Woody will be remembered, in part, for his wit, humor, and dedication to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Cynthia; daughter Kathryn Van Ness; sister, Jane (Ron) Brown and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
