James H. Welch's Obituary
James Harold Welch, age 83, passed away Sunday morning, December 1, 2024. He was born March 10, 1941, in St. Ignace, MI to Donald and Beatrice (Beaudry) Welch. After graduating from high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964 during the Vietnam War and was stationed overseas in Germany. Jim worked for Brandow Building and Repair for 30 years and then spent 20 years working for Welch Tile and Marble prior to his retirement. In 2006, he married Cheryl Brandow in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death in 2019. Jim was known in Lakewood Club as the “Fix-it Man”. He enjoyed camping, listening and attending Blue Grass Music/Festivals, and loved his Christmas Eve parties with family and friends every year. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. SURVIVORS include two children: Carrie Russell and Vincent (Kathy) Welch both of Twin Lake; four stepchildren: Tammy (Bill) Beggs of Mears, MI, Shawn (Julie) Hall, Ron (Gayle) Hall both of Twin Lake, and Misty (Jason) Holy of Muskegon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Mayer of Grant, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and Richard Welch; and a sister, Carol Woodland. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Jim will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2024, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210.
