James P. "Jimmy" White's Obituary
James Patrick “Jimmy” White, age 69, passed away on April 3, 2026. He was born on October 14, 1956, in Muskegon and finished out his last 10 years back in his hometown of Lakeside (Lakeside Against the World). Jimmy attended Bunker and Muskegon High School. After graduating, he moved to Clovis, New Mexico, where he worked for several years before returning to Muskegon to pursue a career on the Great Lakes. Throughout his career, Jimmy worked in marine construction, served on ferry boats, and spent time aboard a University of Michigan research vessel. He eventually made his home on Beaver Island, where he held a variety of jobs and concluded his working years as the St. James Harbor Master. Jimmy passed away at home of natural causes. Honoring his wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest on Beaver Island in a private ceremony with his immediate family. Those who knew Jimmy are encouraged to remember and celebrate his life in their own way. He was a good man.
