James O. Wolffis' Obituary
Mr. James O. Wolffis, age 90, died Christmas afternoon, December 25, 2014, at Mercy Hospital. Jim was born June 19, 1924 in Muskegon to Orrie and Jennie (Wiersma) Wolffis and had been a lifelong resident. He was a WW II Combat veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as an aerial gunner. He spent his professional career as a mechanical engineer working first for Morton Manufacturing for 26 years. He then worked for Sealed Power for 13 years before retiring as a consultant. Jim was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed reading, small game hunting, but primarily Pheasants, caring for his yard and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed writing and authored “Perturbed Abit More Than Slightly”, a political satire of the 70’s. On September 16, 1948, in his parent’s home, he married Lorraine D. Stevens and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Lisa (David) Carlson and Kara Bouwman, both of Spring Lake and 2 grandchildren, David Carlson and Jennie Carlson. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Mary Ann Gundy, in 1985; and by his brother, John "Bart" Wolffis. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014, at Allen Ave. Christian Reformed Church (695 Allen Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Tom Pettinga officiating. VISITATION with Jim’s family will be one-hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
