James Ellsworth Lumley's Obituary
Mr. James E. Lumley, age 81, passed away in Muskegon, Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009 following a short illness. James Ellsworth Lumley was born in Bear Lake, MI on February 24, 1928 to Sherwood and Elizabeth (Strickler) Lumley and was a graduate of Bear Lake H.S. Following high school, Jim joined the U.S. Army and after completing his tour of duty moved to Muskegon. Mr. Lumley was employed at Teledyne-Continental for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Jim was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues throughout the Muskegon area and was a member of the Fruitport Seniors. He married the former Nancy L. McCune (mother of Deana) on June 7, 1974. Tragically, Nancy preceded him in death in 1992 from complication of M.S. He is survived by his six loving daughters, Claire Dove of Norton Shores, Norah (Michael) May of Trufant, MI, Paula Sherwood of Muskegon, Danna Pittman of Norton Shores, Joy Crews of Twin Lake and Deana (Ray) LeGassie of Pleasant Shade, TN; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy (Sara) Dove of Spring Lake, MI, Joshua Dove of Florida, Cpl Richard Shear II, USMC of Norton Shores, MI, Anthony May of Comstock Park, MI, Andrew (Angela) May of Sand Lake, MI, Kerri May of Walker, MI, Natasha (Eric) Klopp of N. Muskegon, Dylan Lewis of Norton Shores, Virginia, Madalyn and Lucinda LeGassie of Pleasant Shade, TN; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (Paul) Partanen and the woman who put a smile on his face for the past 15 years, his beloved Evelyn Rokos of Fruitport. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Cory May and nephew Edward Partanen.
