James L. Lindback's Obituary
Mr. James Lindback, age 79, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died at Mercy Hospital Friday, September 12, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was born February 16, 1929 in Muskegon to Leonard J. and Irene (Westerlund) Lindback. He was a graduate of Muskegon High School and a member of Samuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Lindback was a successful business man and entrepreneur in the Muskegon area. He founded Lindback Distributing Company, and was the authorized supplier to the Fraternal Order of Eagles for all their emblematic items, which required the Official Seal of the Order. He also was a major supplier to the Loyal Order of the Moose. Mr. Lindback was a long-time member of the Muskegon Elks, former Moose member, past member of the Recreation Club, past member of the Lakeside Veterans Club, numerous Eagle Clubs throughout the U.S., and was a member of the Vikings Linne’ Lodge #57. He was an avid card player, and especially loved spending time with his family. On May 29, 1953 he married the former Elaine V. Smith in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, James Leonard Lindback III, Janice (Patrick) Dutkiewicz both of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Courtney and Jordan Masselli, Jimmy Lindback; 2 great-grandsons, Payton and Braelin; 4 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles “Chuck” Lindback of Muskegon; sister, Nancy (Gary) Blamer of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Luanne, Barbara “Babs” and Peggy. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Samuel Lutheran Church with The Rev. Philip Nordstrand officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Harbor Hospice or the National Kidney Foundation.
