James R. Duiser's Obituary
Mr. James R. Duiser, age 88, went to be with his Lord on Monday evening, November 14, 2011. He was born June 17, 1923 in Muskegon to Nicholas and Hattie (Dykema) Duiser and had been a life resident of the area. Jim retired as President and owner of Sargent Specialty and Machine Co. where he had been employed over 50 years. He had been an active member of Unity Reformed Church where he had served as Deacon, Church Treasurer; and member of the Men’s Bible Class and of the XYZ Group. Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting and traveling in the family motorhome. On June 12, 1947 he married the former Marian Hoffman; and she preceded Jim in death on February 3, 2007. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Neil Russell Duiser, in 1988. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Carole (Dennis) Vennema and Wayne (Kathy) Duiser of Muskegon, Lori (Rev. Bruce) Osbeck of Wyoming, MI, Larry (Betty) Duiser and Shari (Peter) Boterenbrood of Norton Shores; 12 grandchildren, Amy (Ronald) Wildey, Scott (Lisa) Vennema, Caryn Vennema, Derek (Nicole) Duiser, Danielle (Richard) Briseno, Kyle (Heather) Duiser; Alison Duiser and fiancé Kyle Martin, Jared Osbeck, Tim (Siera) Duiser, Patrick Duiser, Zachary Boterenbrood and Megan Boterenbrood; 8 great–grandchildren; 1 brother, Gerald (Agnes) Duiser and 2 sisters, Gen (Rev. Jim) Bos and Ardis Bos, all of Muskegon. The FUNERAL SERVICE for Jim will be held 11 AM Friday at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with the Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with Jim’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8Pm Thursday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49441 (231-798-1100);and one-hour prior to the service at Unity Reformed Church. MEMORIAL GIFTS to Unity Mission Endowment Fund will be appreciated.
