James R. Luytjes' Obituary
Mr. James R. “Jim” Luytjes, age 70, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on June 30, 1939 to Rens and Henrietta (Laman) Luytjes and was a life resident. Mr. Luytjes was a veteran of the United States Marines. He had been employed in the family business at Luytjes Lumber Co. and later worked as an estimator for Cashway Lumber and L & M Roofing. Mr. Luytjes was a former member of First Reformed Church, a member of the Lithuanian Club and he enjoyed hunting. He is survived by two sons, Steven Luytjes and Lane Luytjes; one daughter, Kristi (Dennis) Porter; four step children, Diana Hutchinson, Betty (Donald) Harrison, Michael (Vicki) Vogelsong and Nancy (Jim) Younglove; several grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth (Deborah) Luytjes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret D. (Vogelsong) Luytjes in 1997; his parents and one step son, Lee Vogelsong. SERVICES will be 1:00PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Burt Wachter officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service.
