James T. "Jim" Vedders' Obituary
Mr. James T. “Jim” Vedders, age 55, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 in Holland. Jim was born February 4, 1949 to Thomas and Dorothy (Schutter) Vedders in Muskegon. He was a Michigan State University Alumni, where he received a degree in Parks and Recreation Management. He lived in Muskegon for several years where he worked for the city, his last position being in Parks and Cemetery. He then moved to Fremont where he was the Director of Public Works for 17 years. For the last 7 and one half years he lived in Whitehall, where he was also the Director of Public Works, retiring in April of this year. Among his hobbies Jim enjoyed watching birds, biking, gardening, his family, the Red Wings, and was an MSU fan. In his career, Jim received many letters of recommendation, and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the White Lake Pathway, Marina Bathhouse Expansion, White Lake Water Authority Water System Interconnect with Montague, Water Tower Place Subdivision, Covell Park Improvements, and Abonmarche City Property Master Plan. Jim loved his family, was very dedicated to his job, and loved life. On June 6, 1969 he married the former Carol A. Anderson. SURVIVORS include his wife Carol of Whitehall; 3 sons; Jeffery (Cynthia) Vedders of Holland, Gregory (Monica) Vedders of Grand Rapids, and their sons Nathaniel and Zachary, Bradley (Meghan) Vedders of Grand Rapids, and their daughter Hayley; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Glover of Shelby, Karen VanDuinen of New Era. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Friday at Fifth Reformed Church, with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
