Jamie Lynn Jazdzyk's Obituary
Jamie Lynn Jazdzyk, age 56, passed away on March 22, 2025. A native of Muskegon, Michigan, she most recently resided in Grand Haven. She was a proud graduate of Mona Shores High School, Class of 1985, where she left an unforgettable mark. Jamie was a trailblazer—the first girl to join the Mona Shores boys’ baseball team, proving she could hold her own and then some. She was also the 1985 Prom Queen and Senior Class President, a natural leader and a beloved friend. Known for her kindness and sense of justice, Jamie was often the peacemaker in neighborhood disputes. Her brother, Jeff, fondly recalls her passing out “Wacky Wafers” to bring smiles back to those around her.
Jamie pursued her love for adventure and the ocean by attending the University of Hawaii, where she became an avid surfer. She had a deep love for Hawaii, a place that always held a special spot in her heart. Throughout her life, Jamie found great success in her professional endeavors. She worked as a property developer before moving to Chicago, where she built a career in brand strategy. She was also an ordained minister, a role she cherished, having the honor of officiating the weddings of dear friends Brenda and Duncan Matlack, as well as Debbie and Randy Lamse.
In 2016, Jamie was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), a challenge she faced with characteristic resilience and determination. Though she lost sensation in her lower legs, she refused to let it define her. She worked tirelessly through rehabilitation, and by 2019, she was participating in adaptive skiing and pickleball, proving that nothing could dampen her spirit.
Jamie had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. She had countless friends, each of whom was drawn to her intelligence, thoughtfulness, and unwavering generosity. She loved fiercely and fully, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She played an especially meaningful role in the lives of her nieces and nephew, sharing laughter, and wisdom, and could often be found quoting “Mulan” with her niece, Janee.
Jamie was blessed with an incredible network of friends and family who stood by her side throughout her health journey. Each one held a special place in her heart, and their care and compassion will never be forgotten.
Jamie also leaves behind a dear friend, Bob Walma, who lovingly cares for her cherished furry friend, Hannah, affectionately known as “Hannah Banana”. His unwavering support and generosity brought Jamie great peace.
Jamie is preceded in death by her father, James Jazdzyk; stepfather, Randy Oklad; and grandparents Edith Otterson, Don Reilly, and Stephen (Dagne) Jazdzyk.
She is survived by her mother, Susan Oklad; her brother, Jeff (Carolyn) Jazdzyk; and her cherished nieces and nephew, Janee (Codiee) Lofquist, Derek (Traci) DeMarr, and Tiffany (Andrew) McClain, along with many great-nieces and nephews and many treasured cousins.
Jamie’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and the power of a kind heart. She will be deeply missed, but the light she brought into the world will shine on through the many lives she touched.
A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held from Noon - 3:00 PM Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Fruitport Eagles, 3354 S. Dangle Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444.
