Jane B. Barclay's Obituary
Jane Barclay, age 79, passed away in Grand Haven, MI, on Friday, April 5, 2024, after a long-term battle with congestive heart failure and multiple sclerosis. Jane was born on March 9, 1945, to Donald and Irene (Armstrong) Baker in Muskegon, MI. She graduated from North Muskegon High School, where she was a cheerleader, and then went on to work for 42 years as a lab technician at Hackley Hospital, retiring in 2009. She greatly appreciated all the close relationships that she made with coworkers over the course of her career. In Jane’s younger years she enjoyed downhill skiing, water skiing, and motorcycling. She loved to travel, visiting Turks and Caicos many times over the years. More recently she has enjoyed watching professional golf and the birds from her window. Jane enjoyed socializing with her many great friends and spending time with her family. Jane was known for her homemade cheese bread, which was always a crowd favorite during the holiday season. She loved animals and sweet treats (especially ones that contained coconut) and was an avid reader. Jane will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Amanda (Kurt) Barclay-Emery; beloved granddog, Uno; sister in-law, Patricia Baker; two nieces: Suzanne (Scott Remling) Baker and Laura (Jeffrey) Nielsen; and special family friend, Bob Bockrath. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Irene Baker, and her brother, Thomas Baker. Per Jane’s wishes, no public services are being held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI, 49441. Please sign the family’s online guestbook and share memories with the family at sytsemafh.com.
