Jane Farwell Hunt's Obituary
After a brief Illness, Jane passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born March 12, 1945 to Volney and Dessie (nee. Ehlinger) Farwell. Raised in Kalamazoo, Jane also lived in Ironwood, MI before relocating to the Muskegon area in 1987.
Jane had a passion for nature, birds, flowers and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed spending time at Lake Michigan and walking the trails at Hoffmaster State Park. She shared her lifelong love of swimming by developing and directing multiple swim programs in the communities where she lived. She was actively involved for many years in the Christian Education program at First Congregational Church. Jane had a true love for golden retrievers, and had many great years with one by her side.
Her family was her top priority, and she had a special tradition taking each grandchild on their own personal adventure. Trips with “Foo Foo” ranged from hiking in National Parks, to horseback riding, to discovering New York City theatre. These trips will continue in her memory. Survivors include 3 children: Betsy (Thomas) Enders- Grosse Pointe, Bradley (Laura) Hunt- Minneapolis, Andrew (Heidi) Hunt- Muskegon; 8 grandchildren: Evan, Addison, Ryan, Jessie, Sarah, Chloe, Ayden and Gavin; 1 brother: James (Dorothy) Farwell.
A memorial gathering time with the family will be held on Thursday, October 17th from 5-8 pm at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations to purchase a bench which will be placed in Jane’s name at Hoffmaster State Park, or to Great Lakes Golden Retriever Rescue at https://greatlakesgoldens.org/donate/
