Jane Ellen Robinson's Obituary
Jane Robinson passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Great Lakes Specialty Hospital in Muskegon.
Born on August 17, 1946, the second in a family of six children, Jane grew up in Grand Haven on Ottawa Street. She was a member of the GHHS band and played the flute. After graduating, she attended the University of Michigan, majoring in speech and language pathology. She worked with students in the suburbs of Chicago and Muskegon before moving to Detroit to do clinical work for the Detroit school system and then at a hospital in Windsor, Canada. During this time, Jane earned both a Master's Degree and a PhD from Wayne State University. Jane was so proud of her academic accomplishments, especially of earning her PhD.
After completing her PhD, Jane taught at the University of Tennessee for two years before returning to Michigan. She worked in Kalamazoo and the Upper Peninsula before returning to Grand Haven in the early 1990's.
Jane battled various forms of cancer for many years. She endured years of physical and emotional pain and is now at peace. Her nieces and nephews will always remember gardening with Aunt Jane and her homemade M&M cookies.
Jane is the daughter of late parents Mary Ellen Lillie Robinson and Charles Baker Robinson. She is survived by her brother, Charlie Robinson of Longmont; CO, sisters Barbara Smith (Wayne) of Santa Barbara, CA; Mary Lisa Robinson of Grand Haven; Patricia Robinson of Lakewood, CO; and Anne Moore of Bloomfield, IN. She was Aunt Jane to five nieces, two nephews, one grand-niece and four grand-nephews.
