Janet Lea Bevans' Obituary
Janet Lea Bevans, age 79, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at her home. She was born November 12, 1944 in Muskegon to Jordan and Bertha (Martin) Holcomb and lived most of her life in the area. Janet married James Allen Bevans in Shelby, MI on March 10, 1964 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Unity Reformed Church where they have been longtime active members. Janet worked for the County of Muskegon, Multi Line Office Machines, and retired in 2013 after 15 years as the Building Divisions Clerk for the City of Norton Shores. Janet adored her family – especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed traveling, camping and sewing. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, James A. Bevans; 2 children, James Bevans and Jill Hammond; 7 grandchildren, Derek Sircher, Adrianna (Nathan Bennett) Bevans, Andrew (Jenna) Bevans, Jordan (Jenna) Bevans, Natalie Fox, Amy Knight, Mackenzie Bevans; 6 great-grandchildren with another expected delivery in September 2024; 2 brothers, Bruce (Patti) Holcomb, Scott (Lynda) Holcomb; 3 sisters, Lorna (Ray) Mitchell, Gail (Larry) Kievet, Kristen (Larry) Rolston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Jordan Holcomb. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Road, Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Pastor David Celeskey officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will take place at Elbridge Township Cemetery in Hart, MI at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Harbor Hospice Foundation.
