Mrs. Janet M. Dexter's Obituary
Mrs. Janet M. Dexter, 82, passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2016 in Muskegon. She was born April 24, 1934 to William and Evelyn (Bigelow) Szendre in Muskegon, and lived here for over 50 years. She worked for the Brunswick Employees Federal Credit Union for 33 years before retiring in 1988, and was a longtime member of Crestwood United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Learn-About-Child Study Club, a volunteer with Senior Resources, and enjoyed doing a genealogy book for her family. Janet married James E. Dexter on November 14, 1952, and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2011. She is survived by 4 children, Julia (Richard Sprague) Dexter of Aiken, SC, Gary M. Dexter of Muskegon, David W. Dexter of Alexandria, VA, Randall L. (Marie) Dexter of Iron Station, NC; 7 grandchildren; her brother, Willard Szendre of Muskegon; and sisters, Karen Rasmussen of Applevalley, CA, and Mary Ellen (William) Ogren of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ardean Phistner and Shirley Swan; and brothers, Thomas Szendre, Richard Bigelow. The funeral service for Mrs. Dexter will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 19, at Crestwood United Methodist Church, 1220 Creston.
