Janet M. Henricks' Obituary
Janet Mavis Henricks, age 103, passed away Monday, June 13, 2023. She was born May 13, 1920 in Muskegon, MI to Henry and Lena (Ogren) Bolthouse. Janet was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church in Norton Shores for many years. She was a long-time volunteer with the Muskegon Rescue Mission and served on the Board of Directors. Janet was the “Mother of Lake Harbor Park”, as she was the first to oppose the commercial development of the “Swett Property” in Norton Shores City Council meetings. She continued to propose free public access to Lake Michigan for Norton Shores residents in later council meetings, which ultimately resulted in the property being purchased by the city, much to the joy of her family and fellow citizens. SURVIVORS include two children: Patricia J. Peltz of St. Clair Shores, MI and C. Mark Henricks of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren: Jane Grimes and Dave Larson; four great-grandchildren: Ian Grimes, Lorna Grimes, Kate and Audrey Larson. Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Ricco in 1947; her second husband, Charles Henricks in 1981; brother, Howard; and two sisters: Caroline and Lillian. Private family services will be held. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Muskegon Rescue Mission will be appreciated.
