Janice M. "Jan" Babcock's Obituary
Janice Marie Babcock, age 68, passed away Wednesday evening September 16, 2015. She was born April 4, 1947 in Muskegon to Virgil and Lorraine (Oppelt) Temple. On October 22, 1966 she married David N. Babcock in Muskegon. Jan had worked for Cloetingh Insurance Company as a customer service representative for 6 years before retiring in 1990. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing, and cooking, but most importantly being with family at family gatherings. SURVIVORS include her husband of 48 years, David; 2 children: Annette Slaughter of Muskegon, Scott (Kary Jo) Babcock of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren: Warren and Mya Slaughter, Rhiannon Babcock; 3 brothers: Jerry (Rose) Temple of Whitehall, Jim (Joanne) Temple of Grand Rapids, Kirk (Karen) Temple of Norton Shores; and sister, Cindy (Wayne) Gordon of Muskegon. Jan was preceded in death by her parents. Her family would like to express their appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence for the excellent care given to Jan. A CELEBRATION OF JAN’S LIFE will be held 11:30 AM Monday, September 21, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery at a later date.
