Janice A. Pomeroy's Obituary
Janice Ann Pomeroy, age 82, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Janice was born in Muskegon on March 30, 1939, to her parents Peter and Alice (VanBergen) Wierda. She graduated from Muskegon High School, and then worked for many years as a bank teller. In May of 1958 she married James Pomeroy, and they spent almost 65 wonderful years together. Janice was a homemaker for some years, but then went to work for ten years at Oven Fresh Bakery before retiring. Janice was a woman of good faith who loved her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She enjoyed crocheting and playing solitaire, and also watching game shows and soap operas. She was a great cook, and she enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. Janice loved people and loved life, and she always enjoyed having her friends and family around her. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James Pomeroy; three sons: Jeffrey Pomeroy, Joel (Peggy) Pomeroy, and Jack (Angela) Pomeroy; brother, Richard (Edith) Wierda; three grandchildren: Katrina (Shawn) Cooper, Nicole VanDyke, and Jordan Dion; ten great-grandchildren: Jordan (Lyndsay) Cooper, Vincent (Aryon) Rennells, Tyler Rennells (Tiara Johnson), Sarah Cooper, Jamie (James) Palmiere, Aidan VanDyke, Oliver Munn, Kendall Munn, Talon Cooper, and Johanna Cunningham; nine great-great-grandchildren: Huxley Cooper, Ajax Rennells, Lucille Rennells, Wilder Rennells, Alannah Novell, Fearynn Rennells, Bentley Ware, Paisley Palmiere, and Rebel Palmiere; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Alice Wierda. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Janice at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 23, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. Memorial contributions can be made out to Fifth Reformed Church.
