Janice K. Wallstead's Obituary
Janice K. Wallstead, age 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Chestnut Fields Retirement Community. She was born on September 25, 1938 in Muskegon to Burton and Kathryn (Cooper) Vickers and was a lifelong resident of the area. On August 6, 1960, she married Jack Wallstead in Anchorage, AK and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1999. Prior to her retirement in 2004, Jan worked as a Health Care Aide for Pioneer Resources for 15 years. She also had a passion for therapeutic riding and volunteered for 10 years at Rena Hills Therapeutic Riding Center and 12 years at Hands-On Hippotherapy. Jan had a zest for life & she loved being active, walking at the mall, swimming, going on trips, playing cards and socializing with friends. Jan loved her grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them. They would go to the beach, go on field trips for school, make homemade applesauce, have sleepovers, go camping and many other activities. Survivors include 2 children, Joseph (Renee) Wallstead, Laurel (Brad) Morton; 6 grandchildren, Allison (Jacob), Grace, Brandon “Charles”, Alexandra (Nathan), Daniel, Mandy (Jake); 1 great-grandson, Jack; 2 sisters, Nancy (Joe), and Betty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her son, Jim; her parents and 1 sister, Marcia. A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4 PM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at The Lee Family Center of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444.
