Janis Lee Miles' Obituary
Janis Lee Miles, age 85, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Muskegon, MI. She was born May 25, 1940, in Muskegon, MI to Jay and Leona Weenum. After graduating from Western Michigan Christian High School, she went on and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Hope College. Once completing college, she taught all over in the Lake Orion area and Muskegon area.
Janis was known not just for being an educator, but she also had award winning gardens. She had a love for arts and crafts and always loved to take some time and shop. What meant the most to her though, was her family, whether it was taking trips or shopping, she wanted to make sure her family was included.
She will be remembered by her daughter, Susan; grandson, Christian Lawrence; two brothers, Randall (Diane) Weenum and David Weenum; three sisters, Sandy Peterson, Sharon Patterson, and Rebecca (Robert) Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Janis was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark; granddaughter, Hunter; and two brothers-in-law, Burt Peterson and Larry Patterson.
