Janyce J. Vitek's Obituary
Janyce J. Vitek, age 77, passed peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020. Born to Elwin and Betty (Vanderweele) Morrison, Jan was a creative soul. She enjoyed dancing as a child to songs like “I’m A Little Teapot.” Jan worked several years for Little Red Shoe House where she helped find the right shoes for customers. She also shared her creative country painting skills with the Heritage Artisans. Jan had recently put her talents to use creating quilts with the Ladies of Hope Quilters. She always had a project at hand. Jan’s proudest creative endeavor was her family. Along with her husband Richard Vitek, they stitched together a beautiful tapestry of friends and family. She was a member of Fifth Reformed Church in Muskegon. Jan is survived by her husband, Richard Vitek, their children, David (Joyce) Vitek, Scott (Amy) Vitek, Michael (Heidi) Vitek, and Mary (Brian) Race; as well as 9 grandchildren; Stephanie (Troy) Gilroy, Ashley (Julio) Baez, Thomas (Lauren) Vitek, Sara and Eric Vitek, Adam (Cassidy) Vitek, Ethan Vitek, John (Aubrey) Race and Gerald Race. She also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren Jameson Gilroy and Maksim Baez. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2020 outside under the South Portico at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 outside under the South Portico at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ladies of Hope Quilters (This group held a special place in Jan’s heart and brought her great joy and comfort).
