Mr. Jason C. Rop's Obituary
Mr. Jason C. Rop, 82, passed away Sunday morning, August 18, 2013. Born September 17, 1930 to Cornelius and Minnie (Milkamp) Rop, he was a lifelong resident of Muskegon. Mr. Rop had been a foreman at Dresser Industries prior to his retirement. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of First Christian Reformed Church. On September 16, 1961 he married the former Loretta Youngo in Muskegon, and she survives him along with two sons: Ronald J. (Kristi L.) Rop and Randall J. (Mary E.) Rop; five grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew, Alex, Jillian and Riley; a sister, Jean Larr; brothers-in-law: Richard LaFayette and William Malda; and a sister-in-law, Doris Rop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother John Rop; and sisters Doris and Delora Rop, Connie Malda and Tressa LaFayette. Mr. Rop was a loyal sports supporter of Western Michigan Christian High School and loved watching his grandsons play. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Mr. Rop at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at First Christian Reformed Church, 1450 Catherine Avenue, with Rev. John Rop officiating and interment in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the funeral service, 1 to 2 P.M. at the Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School would be appreciated.
