I remember Karlena messaging me that she was pregnant. I was overjoyed at the news and excited to serve as her doula. She sent me ultrasound pictures of sweet Jaxon and even a video of him waving.
When she called me, I assumed that it would be to discuss her birth but it was the heartbreaking news that Jaxon did not have a heart beat. As I walked in the delivery room where Jaxon was to be born, the air was heavy with grief but also a sense of warm love.
The love that these parents showed for each other and their baby was breathtaking. I was in awe of Karlena’s strength, bravery and undeniable love. Jaxon will live forever in our hearts and dance with the angels.
